Description

Hayguyz, check it out! The animation major actually animated something!!! PRO-TIP: Watch it for a little while because (at least for me) the computer likes to sort of slow it down and make it look even chunkier than it is while it's processing it.)

So there's this super-helpful textbook I have called "The Animator's Survival Kit" by Richard Williams, and it goes over a LOT of really important principles of animation with plenty of illustrations to break down exactly what the author is talking about

In the section about walk cycles, the author demonstrates a very cartoony, sprightly walk that I decided to trace for practice, using Victor as my test dummy because the walk seemed to fit him so well. It definitely needs some polishing, as well as more in-betweens to make it smoother, but all things considered, I think this is a great start to getting used to drawing a walk cycle. Heck, I might even try and make this look all nice with some ink and whatnot!

Full credit for the actual walk cycle goes to Richard Williams, who was in turn inspired by Milt Kahl to do the energetic walk cycle. WOOHOO! LEARNING!

Victor (c) to me. Oh god he's mobile now
